I think not. I think what Bill is trying to say -- and correct me if I
am wrong, Bill -- is that although a child WILL change as he/she
grows, that change should not be seen either as an improvement or
as a deterioration, but simply as a CHANGE: *without* ascribing
to the change any VALUE whatsoever.
Is a baby in any sense LESS than a wizened old man? Surely not!
DIFFERENT, no question about it -- but certainly not LESS (nor
"inferior to" in any way).
