Don,

With a chapter in a Barrett-Koehler published book myself, I have every wish
to see them do well! In addition, as a small publisher myself (Sea Otter
Press, much smaller than Barrett-Koehler), I have every wish to see small
publishers flourish. I have a different view of Amazon, than you seem to,
however. While we at Sea Otter Press certainly earn more per book when
people buy from us directly, we also have costs associated with that for
advertising, etc. Our hope is that we get more in volume and publicity from
Amazon, and thus offset our reduced earnings per book. I think we risk
blinding ourselves to the possibilities of the Internet when we see such
services as Amazon's as "onslaughts", rather than "outlets".

Thanks for listening,
~Alan Klein
