Small correction/addition to your post:

There are other democratically run schools, The Highland School being one of
them, which reject the notion of curricula in the same way that Sudbury
schools do, but which were founded without knowledge of Sudbury Valley and
are, therefore, not "Sudbury schools". I prefer the more generic term,
"democratically run schools" or "democratic schools".
