Subject: Paulo Freire (1922-1997)

". . . to begin always anew, to make, to reconstruct, and to not spoil,
to refuse to bureaucratise the mind, to understand and to live life as a
process--live to become . . ."

-Paulo Freire (1922- May 1997)

Earlier this week Paulo Freire died at the age of 75. In 1995 the 20th
anniversary edition of Pedagogy of the Oppressed went to print. How often
do you read a book that makes you want to write in the margins on every
page of your library copy, if somebody else had not already beat you to
it? I wish the man could have lived to finish another book, the world
desperately needs his vision.
