An interesting point. Getting invested in the rightness our own definitions
as if they were "the truth" rather than inventions of our own minds deals a
death blow to learning.
The converse of that,. however, is that a lack of definitions limits our
ability to engage meaningfully with each other. If I am not speaking about
the same thing you are speaking about then we are like the two proverbial
ships passing in the night.
